Job Description

Situation Group, a global collective of digital-first advertising agencies and an award-winning nonprofit, seeks a talented and creative Social Media Content Creator & Video Editor to transform our thought leadership content into compelling, snackable social media moments.

This role will also involve capturing and producing insightful conversations with our team in our in-house studio—ranging from short-form videos to podcasts—to showcase how we think and innovate. This role will report to the Managing Partner responsible for business development. Please submit your resume and a portfolio showcasing your work inclusive of video editing and videography skills.

What You’ll Do

This role is ideal for a content storyteller who thrives at the intersection of strategy, creativity, and execution. You will repurpose existing thought leadership content into digestible formats for social media while also proactively capturing organic team discussions to bring our brand’s personality and expertise to life.

Our office is located in midtown Manhattan and we are currently working in-office three days per week.

Sample Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Create, and post engaging visual content (photos, graphics, and videos) tailored to each social media platform.
  • Shoot, edit, and produce short-form and long-form video content optimized for social media.
  • Capture real-time conversations with internal team members in our in-house studio, turning organic discussions into polished content pieces.
  • Record and edit podcast-style discussions and short-form interviews for YouTube, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
  • Repurpose long-form content (articles, whitepapers, reports, webinars) into short-form, high-impact social media content (videos, carousels, LinkedIn posts, Twitter threads, etc.).
  • Extract key insights and create “snackable” content nuggets that drive engagement and brand awareness.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Social Media Content Creator, Video Editor, or similar role.
  • Strong storytelling ability—able to take complex ideas and distill them into engaging social content.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Skilled in shooting and editing high-quality videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Ability to create engaging motion graphics or animations is a plus.
  • Excellent storytelling and visual communication skills.
  • 3+ years of similar experience at a creative agency, studio, TV network or independent work as a content creator.
  • An extensive knowledge of audio/video production including on set experience and interviewing/directing talent, camera, lighting and audio equipment, etc.
  • Proficient in capturing content on iPhone or DSLR
  • Some graphic design experience preferred
  • Photography skills are a plus
  • Interested candidates must provide a reel of recent work as an editor and videographer

Benefits

We offer a competitive base salary and a range of benefits and perks:

  • Salary range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience
  • Cold brew coffee, snacks and fresh fruit
  • Wellness resources
  • Special access to New York City’s arts and entertainment scene

We have been honored for our commitment to our team with workplace awards from Crain’s, Best Companies Group, Cynopsis, Digiday, and Fortune.
