Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Handbag Design, the Design Assistant, Handbags will be responsible for supporting the Accessories Design teams in the seasonal design development process, from concept to delivery.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Ability to take direction from design team, organize samples, create and organize boards, prep for meetings, do color-ups in both AI and photoshop, do trend research, inspirational research, and, most important, make or ,learn to make, mock ups.
· Create patterns and make 3-d mock ups of designs
· Help create launch sheets for bags, belts, and small leather goods
· Support Designer(s) in creating and updating Adobe Illustrator sketches; assist in preparation and updating of design boards
· Sample management; organize, track, and store all samples. Assist in setting up and breaking down samples for meetings.
· Assist with market research, trend research, vintage research, and helping with design ideas following the direction of the design team.
· Maintain tidiness and organization of the design room
· Assists Design team with tech packs and shipping samples (tracking, sending, receiving, etc.)
· Work with our development team – helping to communicate via email and on calls.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
· Multiple years of fashion design experience preferred.
· Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Fashion Design preferred.
· Must be proficient in Adobe Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, XD.
· Ability to spec handbags, belts, SLGs, and hardware.
· Passion and eye for design.
· Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, must be able to multi-task, prioritize work.
· Ability to adapt to new situations quickly.
· Ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.
· Italian language skills a plus
